OMS (Order Management System): An Order Management System is a software application or platform that helps businesses manage and track their sales orders and inventory throughout the order fulfillment process. It provides a centralized hub for businesses to monitor and control the entire lifecycle of an order, from placement to delivery.
SaaS (Software as a Service): SaaS is a software distribution model in which a third-party provider hosts and delivers software applications over the internet. SaaS offers several advantages, such as cost-effectiveness, flexibility, simplified maintenance, and rapid deployment, making it a popular choice for businesses of all sizes to access and utilize software applications without the need for extensive infrastructure or technical expertise.
Organization: The organization refers to the business entity or company.
Warehouse: A warehouse refers to a physical location or facility where an organization stores its inventory, typically in preparation for order fulfillment and distribution.
Superuser: Superusers possess comprehensive permissions within Zeno and have the ability to invite Users to the organization.
User: Users are invited to use Zeno by the organization’s Superuser. They all of the same permissions as a Superuser, except the ability to invite other Users or to access the Account & Billing page.
Product Catalog: A product catalog refers to a database of the products offered by a business. It serves as a central repository of information about the available items that customers can purchase.
Inventory: Inventory refers to the collection of products, goods, or materials that a business holds for the purpose of selling, manufacturing, or producing goods. It represents the stock of items that a business owns and has available for immediate use or sale. Within Zeno, there are two types of Inventory: Product & Boxes.
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): A SKU is a specific code or identifier assigned to a particular item within a business's inventory. It is a unique combination of letters, numbers, or alphanumeric characters that distinguishes one item from another. SKUs are primarily used for internal inventory management purposes and can help businesses track and identify individual products accurately. SKUs can include information such as the product's characteristics, variants, or other relevant attributes. They provide a standardized way to reference and differentiate items in an Order Management System.
Order: An order refers to a customer's request to purchase one or more products from a business. It typically includes details such as the specific items being ordered, quantities, pricing, customer information, shipping address, payment method, and any other relevant information necessary to fulfill the customer's request. In an Order Management System, orders are processed, tracked, and managed throughout their lifecycle, from creation to fulfillment and delivery.
Package: A package typically refers to the physical container or parcel that contains the products being shipped to a customer. It is the unit of shipment that is assigned a tracking number and transported by a carrier or shipping service. The package may contain one or more items ordered by the customer, along with any necessary packaging materials for protection during transit. The package is often associated with an order, and its status is updated as it moves through the various stages of the shipping process, allowing for tracking and delivery confirmation. There can be multiple packages per order, but only one order per package.
Item or Product: An item or product refers to the unique product that a business offers for sale. An item is typically identified by a unique name, description, and may have specific attributes such as size, color, model, etc. It represents the fundamental unit of inventory that is tracked and managed within an Order Management System.
Batch: A grouping or collection of related orders that are processed together as a single unit.
Order ID: An order ID is a unique identifier assigned to each individual order within Zeno. It serves as a reference or tracking number that uniquely identifies a specific customer's order. The order ID allows for easy identification, retrieval, and tracking of order-related information and activities throughout the order lifecycle, from creation to fulfillment and delivery.
Package ID: A package ID refers to a unique identifier assigned to a specific package or shipment within the OMS. When an order is packed and prepared for shipment, it may be divided into one or more packages, especially if the order contains multiple items or requires separate packaging for logistical reasons. Each package is assigned a unique package ID to differentiate it from other packages within the same order. The package ID facilitates tracking and tracing of individual packages throughout the shipping and delivery process.
Batch ID: A batch ID is a unique identifier assigned to a grouping or collection of related orders that are processed together as a single unit within the OMS. Batching orders allows for efficient processing and handling of multiple orders simultaneously. The batch ID helps identify and manage the batch as a whole, providing a reference for batch-specific operations, tracking, and reporting. It allows organizations to track the progress, performance, and outcomes of batch-related processes and activities.
Dangerous Good: Dangerous Goods are substances or materials that possess potentially hazardous properties, presenting risks to health, safety, property, or the environment. These goods require special handling, packaging, storage, and transportation precautions due to their inherent hazards.
Allocated: Allocated inventory refers to the portion of the available inventory that has been reserved or assigned to fulfill specific orders or customer commitments. When inventory is allocated, it is no longer considered as available for other orders or purposes. It is set aside or earmarked for the specific orders or customers to ensure that the required quantity is reserved and can be fulfilled when needed.
Hold: Inventory that is placed on Hold is manually reserved by the organization, generally for purposes other than fulfilling customer orders.
Available: Available inventory represents the quantity of inventory that is currently in stock and not allocated or reserved for any specific orders or commitments. It is the portion of inventory that is readily available for new orders, replenishment, or other purposes within the business.
Shipping Class: The shipping class refers to a classification or categorization system used to group products or items based on their shipping characteristics and requirements. It helps determine the appropriate shipping methods, rates, and rules for each class of products during the order fulfillment process.
